Essentially the Best
Ever catch a gnarly cold and decided that you would take some disgusting theraflu only to have diarrhea and a rancid aftertaste left in your mouth?? Or you’ve waken up with a groggy feeling of having to go work your dreaded 9-5?! Or maybe you just stepped on that tack you’ve been meaning to pick up off the floor for the past week! (that’s a tad bit extreme but it happens).
Whatever your reason for illness, dis-ease or discomfort there is a NATURAL cure or remedy!!! And they’re called Essential Oils =) Try this at home: Squeeze the peel of a ripe orange. The fragrant residue on your hand is FULL of essential oils.
Essential Oils are derived from the Earths natural herbs, seeds, stems, plants and flowers and are 100% safe. A process called distillation is used to extract the oil from the plant making it accessible. Oils can be used aromatically (I think I just made up a word), topically and/or internally and have been used in cultures for centuries.
Essential Oils offer great assistance in several areas of our bodies due to the chemical reactions we undergo through smelling, ingesting or touching them. Some oils are more potent than others and require a carrier oil (such as coconut or olive oil) before skin contact.
A whiff of Peppermint oil could mean the difference between falling asleep in your cubicle or finishing a long, awaited deadline… A sip of Ginger oil could ease an upset stomach and try rubbing Eucalyptus oil on your chest to clear up sinus and congestion!!
I got introduced to essential oils from working at a body care company but never got much training until the summer of 2008 when I met an incredible Spiritual Being, Jessica Wild, who’s dedication to oils left me awestruck. She taught me quite a bit about different brands, qualities, properties and application. Immediately taking her words of wisdom into consideration I began using them regularly and have noticed an improvement in health, clarity and energy.
There’s several oil distributors available so experimenting and researching will help you find the right product for you. I’ve tried The Body Shop, Young Living, DoTerra and Aura Cacia and have found them all to be of great quality and aroma!! — My fave (right now) is Aura Cacia’s Lemongrass YUM!!!
Now, I’m not saying that essential oils are the cure for everything but it’s just like any other remedy — you should probably combine with other modalities (i.e.: exercise, deep-breathing, mediation, rest, etc.). However, I can vouch for oils and say that it’s a natural medicinal way to improve overall health, and have too many uses/benefits to even begin on one blog!
There’s tons of information out there about essential oils so get informed. Try experimenting with different oils — combine a few, rub them on different areas of your body, sleep with them 😉 You’ll be surprised at what you discover about your own body and botany.
